Starting secondary school doesn't have to be scary. It is something to look forward to! It's an opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and begin the next chapter of your life. There will be lots of new teachers and classrooms to find but - before you know it - it will feel like you have been there forever!
There are always teachers and other staff that can help you if you are ever confused or worried. You see your form teacher every day and they are always there for you.
Most schools will give all students a planner or diary. This will help you write all your homework down so you know when it is due to be handed in. If you are unsure of how to do your homework you need to go and see the subject teacher before it is due and ask them to explain it to you. The staff are always happy to help you.
There are plenty of websites that can help you. Click on the links below and they will take you onto fantastic websites. Go on, try them!
When you go into Year 8, you will know the school and teachers much better. Hopefully, also you will be enjoying all of your lessons. If there are issues, however, there are websites, along with the ones mentioned above, that can help you with your homework and revision. Take a look at these.
Then there is Year 9. This is an important year for you because you take your options. For 2 ½ years you have been trying different subjects and now you get to choose the ones you really like. There are subjects you have to take, like maths, English and science, but there are plenty of other options. Sometimes you are not sure what you want to do when you leave school but there is a website that helps you pick the kind of careers that your interests and personality can be linked to.
